I bought an 81 wide glide from a friend and it's sat since 07. I'm changing oil and don't have experience with Shovels. All I could find was to drain the tank and add 4 qts of oil. I added 3 and ran it checked the level and shows way over full. Is there an additional drain plug I missed?

 

Should only hold 3, but there will still be oil left in the cases and cam chest... I only put 2.5 qts or so in my Evo when I change the oil. I would post in the Shovelhead forum a little further down if I were you.

 

Bike sat that long the cases had at least 1/2 a quart in them, common on the old bikes for the check ball in the oil pump to seep by. How much did she puke when it started the first time ?

 

probably half a quart... lol

 

If it has a tank, you can't really overfill it. The tank acts as a reservoir.
When I drain mine, I can put 4 quarts back in it.
