Default Replacement Handlebars for '12 Road King Classic

I am seeking advice regarding what to do about my current handlebars. They are the stock handlebars and cause me to lean forward thus creating discomfort. I would like to know if there is a set of handlebars that allows me to sit comfortably preferably allowing a pull back of 7". Is this possible? What are some of your suggestions?

Thank you.

Lots of info on this subject in this forum. Just search "heritage bars".
There are: Wild ones, Heritage "Style" bars (This is whats on the 14 RK), and Heritage classic bars.
I tried the Heritage "Style" bars and hated them.....Changed them to the Heritage Classic (from a 2009 - 14 Heritage Softail Classic) and absolutely love them. No cable changes and there is a really great tutorial on this forum.

Instigator, just curious why you hated the Heritage style bars?
I was thinking about trying the '14 RK bars on my '13 but if they aren't much different than stock I'll go with something else. Thanks.

+1,,, that's the bars most RK's owner put on

also check them out.. my 07's are a little diff than the ones they changed to on the 09's or 10's so they are not all the same.
the newer ones bent down and back a little more.. I don't like the newer one as well..--- BUT its probably cause I am used and like the ones I have

I think the police RK bars are about the same bend as Heritage bars and they work great for us tall guys.

I've been in your shoes and I know your pain. The first thing I did was to switch to a set of heritage bars. They were easy to install because you can use the same wiring harness and cables. The bars work for a lot of people, but I didn't like wrist angles. They were still better then the stock bars. This year I put on a set of 16"apes and pulled them back towards me. I'm in heaven now.

What is the safe estimate of maximum height of bars before cable/wire extensions are needed? I'd like to go around 10" and do it myself to save money - not quite comfortable messing with the cables/wires on my own.
