Default Day trips around Quad City area?

Anyone have ideas for day trips around the Quad City area? We are looking for some new Sunday ventures. Other than Poopy's in Savanna we haven't done much else.

Hop on 80 for half an hour and get off on 78 headed south. Or take Route 6 if you want the scenic route and are okay taking all day for this one. Take 78 south to Kewanee. Stop at Reiman's HD. They have a mini-museum type display in the back with some old race bikes, including Evil Knievel stuff. Make sure you say hello to Axle, the English Bulldog who wanders the store. Decent sized and friendly dealership. Good's Furniture is a known stop in town too if that is your thing.

From Kewanee take 34 east through Princeton and 6 east to 180. Jump on 180 south for a couple miles until it hits 29. Follow 29 all the way down the IL River to Sparland. In Sparland cross the river on 17 and head south on 26 until it hits 116. Go south just a few miles on 116 until you get to the ParADice Casino. Turn in where the Casino is, but go right on the little frontage road there instead of left. Get lunch at Burger Barge. Obviously you have to get a burger. I promise you'll thank me later.

The return home you have options based on time and how many miles you want to do. I-74 is there, so is 150. Both will dump you back in the QC.

Or take the longer route. Had back up 116, north on 26, and follow that up the east side of the river (29 took you down the west side). 26 takes you back to Princeton. From there you can go Route 6 home, I-80, or keep going north out of Princeton until you hit 91, and take that back home.

I can add a couple more places to reacher's post. When you cross the bridge from Sparland into Lacon, right at the foot of the bridge in Lacon is Mr. Mikes Place, sort of a hotdog stand with pretty good choices.
Then in East Peoria keep going on 116 and then stay straight onto 29 then turn right on Wesley. Not much of a street, but it leads to Kuchies on the Water, outdoor seating on the river with great food and service.

Unfortunately, I don't think Iowa has much to offer in terms of scenic riding. We are in the wrong portion of the country.....unless you like crop fields

Balltown north of Dubuque has some great views of the country side. You are up high and can see for miles and miles.

I always cross the river on 180 at Hennepin, and head south on 26 from there. Better ride, more scenic IMO. I get to 180 on 29 coming from Spring Valley, also a good ride.

Thanks for the tip on Burger Barge.
