Default Coil

I just recently bought a 1976 shovel, just curious is to how i know it is a single or dual fire engine? Also asking any recommendations on coils plugs and wires

Mate...Good on yah for getting a Shov, but if you cannot tell what coil system she is running then you in for a power of pain looking after that bike!

Does it have one or two coils? if two then thats your answer. if it only has 1 then does it have two wires to it, or 3 or 4? If 2 wires then its a normal duel fire, but if 3 or 4 then its most likely single fire.

Stock and about 99% of the shovels out there are thew normal dual fire, easiest way to tell is check what ignition system you have in her and post back and we'll be able to tell you. Single fire systems usually have 2 coils or what's called a split coil and it's kinda obvious as it's on the big side and like another post mentioned you'll have more wires going to it on 3 or 4 terminals instead of 2.

I appreciate it, this helped, id never heard of the different coil systems before, i just wanted to make sure i knew before i bought parts
