RE: electrical question
I just got done rewiring my 71 XLCH. It seemed like a daunting task at first, but if you take it one step at a time it isn't too bad.
If you don't have one already, I (and everyone else) highly recommend getting a genuine Harley service manual. It has a schematic of all the wiring as well as bunches of other good information.
I don't know what "module" you are referring to, but I would wager a guess and say you don't need one. On my bike I separated the wiring to/from the ignition, generator, regulator, coil and ignition switch into one catagory and the wiring for everything not needed to run into another catagory.. ie: lights, signals, horn, etc. Then I went step by step and wired up one component at a time until I had a running bike. After that was completed I wired up everything else.
The materials I used to wire up the bike were wire strippers/crimpers, soldering iron/solder, electrical connectors of various types, wire, and heat shrink tubing. The schematic also comes in handy too ;-)
I hope this helps some,
Chris

RE: electrical question
Here is a simplfied wiring diagram I drew up for another member. Perhaps it will make things easier for you.
This diagram has the lightning circuits, turn signals and starting circuit...as well as the ignition circuit. Let me know if it helps.....pg
