I would say it depends on how many years you have ridden with a left shift?
For example take my case....... I rode a right hand shift for45 years before I faced riding a left hand shift. I made the switch easily within a month or so.
If I ride both of my machines regularly though, I find I do have some trouble, and I always revert back to favoring the right side shift....... that is to say, I step on the left side brake lever which turns out to be the left side shift lever when I am trying to stop. Confusing? Yes.

I almost always rode a left shift Jap bike with 2 exceptions. All it took me was a little extra concentration for a few days. Sure makes the late model guys look at you funny when the shifter is on the right side

Default Go for it

I have a '68 and I used to ride my dads dresser one day then mine another day, all the time and it just depends on how coordinated you are, as for switching to right side shift not hard to do and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Plus not all bike thieves know how to ride a bike with a righty shifter.
