Hello folks, I'll be riding around Colorado the second week of september! I'm going to be coming into Durango from Moab and would like my next trip leg to be to Telluride. Should I go up 550 through Ouray and Ridgeway or backtrack a little to 145?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

you really need to ride 550 from durango to ridgway, and then 62 over to 145 and then on to telluride. the ride on 62 is beautiful...magnificent mountains.

Durango to Ridgeway over Red Mountain Pass. Then 62 to Teluride and 145 to Delores. From Delores 184 to Mancos and 160 back to Durango. This is locally know as the San Juan Loop, and is a great ride. Around 300 miles and easily doable in a day.

In Ridgeway the True Grit is a pretty good place to eat and don't miss the Dennis Weaver Park just north of town. Anyone can give you directions.
