Rear tire size 200mm
As some of you may know, I recently upgraded the wheels on my 2014 SGS to a set of RC Component wheels, 21 x 3.5 up front and 17 x 6.25 in the rear. I got a hell of a deal on the set of wheels and tires knowing that the rear tire is just about ready to be retired. Upon my test fit (wasn't sure if the 200 mm would work on the rear without issues), I found that the tire fits under there perfectly. It is a Metzeler 880 200/50/17. I am preparing to purchase a new tire for the rear and I am buying a 200/55/17 based off of HogPro's knowledge about the linked braking ABS on the 2014 models, 120/70/21 up front, 200/55/17 in the rear = no ABS light because the tires are within the 10% threshold. Being that my clearances are kinda tight as expected with a 200 rear, HogPro advised that when replacing the rear tire with the 200/55/17, go with an Avon as they are slightly narrower than the rest of the 200's. I believe this but my dilemma is that I was hoping to go with a Dunlop Elite Touring rear. Does anybody know if this tire width is comparable to the Avon 200? What I don't want is for it to be wider than the 200mm that is on there now, I only have about 1/8 of an inch between the belt and tire which I've been told is normal and I have never had any issues with in the past. I know that the difference is probably minimal but when you are just about out of room, 1/16 of inch could make or break the setup. Thanks in advance everyone!

This is off the Amazon site. Don't know if it helps and not sure if these are the exact tires you are looking at:
Avon Cobra 200/50/17 =
Product Dimensions
25.7 x 25.7 x 7.9 inches
Metzeler ME880 200/50/17 =
Product Dimensions
25 x 25 x 8.1 inches
Couldn't find anything on the Dunlop Elite 3 in that size, could only find 200/55/17. The Dunlop D220 200/50/17 shows a section width of 7.64 inches.
Hope this is a good starting point.

Thanks for the info. I would love to just keep the 200/50/17 on the bike because I like the look, the way it fits under the rear fender, and I know I won't have any issues with it. According to the info I received, I have to run the 200/55/17 with my 120/70/21 up from to keep the ABS happy. Hell, I don't even know if the ABS will be unhappy yet with the 50 series on it. We have a lot of snow on the ground and crap on the road here in Ohio. I haven't rode it yet but from the back garage to the front garage. Some say ALL will have the ABS problem if the tires are outside the 10% and some say only the early years had the problem. I'm hoping I don't so I can stay with the 50 instead of the 55.

Just my 2cents. I would try the set up you have and see if I had a problem with the abs before I switched tire sizes. I know first hand of bikes with the factory rear and 120/70/21 on front and no issue. Even some of the guys on here that have a issue only have it after a certain mph has been reached. My belief is that the tire is growing and then getting outside the limits. So that tells me the stock/21 set up is not far out. Not knocking anyone just stating what I've seen and think. If you like your current look why would you not try it before you changed it?

The tire is pretty worn but I should have no problem putting a few miles on her to see if I will have the problem or not. I am preparing for the worst and trying to sort everything out before riding season is in full effect. I don't like down time during riding season. It's hard to test and tune when there is a foot of snow on the ground, cinders and salt all over the road, and enormous pot holes. Gotta love Ohio! The cold don't bother me so if I get a good rain, it's time for a ride!
Just wondering if anyone has run my setup (120/70/21 up front, 200/50/17 out back) with a 2014 SGS, linked braking and ABS and DID NOT have the ABS problem?

Found a tire diameter calculator on tacomaworld.com that you can plug in both tire sizes and it shows the difference in diameter by percentages. Pretty cool calculator. It shows your sizes to be 9.9% difference. Shows a 200/55/17 to be 7.1% off the 120/70/21 front. Shows the 120/70/21 and the factory 180/65/16 rear to be 8.7% difference. I would just post a link but apparently can't figure out how to do that on this I pad. Another way you could go is put a 130/60/21 on front and keep the 200/50/17 on the rear 8.4%.

After putting a few miles on the bike yesterday, I found that I do have the ABS issue. Light came on and it registered Rear Wheel ABS Sensor Speed to high which tells me that the 200/50/17 is too small. I need to move the rear tire up to a 200/55/17 which should fix the Abs issue according to experiences of others. Now my clearances are pretty close with the 50 on it and the 55 is slightly wider, like .2 inches wider, I'm just nervous about rubbing. Another issue I'm having and I'm pretty sure it common sense, but the worn 200mm tire on the bike now feels like it's pulling and pushing from side to side in the rear as I go over uneven surfaces. The tire is flat and worn in the middle and squared on the sides which I'm pretty sure that would cause these symptoms but is that a symptom of a 200mm tire in general?

Well, after several months of working out the bugs and making decisions on which rear tire to go with, I went with a Metzler 200/55/17 because my only other option would have bee the 200/50/17 and along with that I would have had to purchase the ABS module to correct the ABS light which would have been another $250.00. I went with the Metzler because it is one of the narrower 200's and I was afraid of clearance issues. I took my bag off yesterday to clean the bike and found that the right rear fender bracket/mount was hitting the outermost area of my sidewall where it meets the tread area. It appears that is the only thing hitting. Anyone ever run into this? What did you do to resolve it? Modify the bracket somehow? It is only rubbing when I go around left curves. It does not rub going straight or around right curves...

Is the tire hitting evenly? By that I mean front and rear or just one? Had a 200 on my Super Glide and when the clearance gets small wheel alignment becomes VERY important. With the wheel out of aligment just a little bit - things would rub but once aligned correctly there was enough clearance that nothing touched. In your case I'd ignore the came adjusters and actually measure front/back on both sides.
