Default 500 Mile service???

Did anyone else have the dealer tell them how "IMPORTANT" is is the return for a 500 mile service on a brand new bike. The manual calls for first service at 1k. Any feed back on this?

All dealers try to get you in for the service work. There was a time when first service was 500 miles. IMO they are working you.

Yea, I felt like they are just trying to dig a little deeper in your pocket. I figure oil or nothing else is due until 1 k. What are they going to due to your bike for the 500 mile service?? Check nuts and bolts??

Just bought a 2015 Limited Low and was told to bring it in for a 500 mile service. I'm just wonder how that would effect warranty if you didn't. I mean $300 service job is baby chit when you're talking about a $28,000 bike.

you should ask them about the 500 mile check list, cause I don't see that one in my service manual.

Not a bad idea, per se, to change at 500....

But I would do it myself.

Dealer wants in your wallet.....

Took mine in at 850 and after over $300 they charged me for two new spark plugs. WTF? spark plugs only last 850 miles. The rip offs stop now. An indy will get my ride or I do it myself.

Sorry guys I've been up too long today. They said take it easy for the first 500 and bring it in for a 1000 mile service. My bad.

My dealer said To change the oil and filter at 500 miles but I could do it myself or bring it in. Figured why not if they recommended it but I did it myself.
