one bolts a big ugly windshield contraption with a radio and gauges onto the forks and the other bolts a bigger uglier contraption to the frame.

You will never settle that argument.

Those that have the Street Glide will say it is better.
Those that have the Road Glide will say it is better.

One is not "better" than the other.

Since they are the same exact bike with different front fairings, it just comes down to personal preference.

When I was in the market for a touring glide, I drove both. Specifically the SGS, because at the time I preferred the classic batwing. I came away from that test ride feeling bunched up and felt how heavy and cumbersome it handled. I decided immediately to stick with my Wide Glide and that there were too many things I would have to change just to feel comfortable on the SGS. A year went by, and the look of dual headlights was growing on me in the like of Fat Bob's and RGS's. I thought "what the hell, I'll test ride one and see what I think". Got nothing to loose right?? After test riding a RGS I was blown away with how much room I felt and how stable and nimble it was. I couldn't believe it was an 850lb bike! I was sold immediately and started scheming how to get one home and started stripping accessories off the Wide Glide for trade in. The RGS handles better in the wind, highway, curves and low speed parking lot maneuvering than the Wide Glide and certainly the SGS, and with all the fun bells and whistles and comfort of a touring bike. I want to be very clear that it was in driving both models that it was irrefutable which bike was better. And to be honest, the RGS is more modern in appeal and definitely unique in look. You see every Tom, Dick and Harry on the same old SGS. I wanted something a little more different. YMMV

Another quick note, both rides were on "Demo" days where we went on about a 10 mile ride with mixed riding conditions- Hwy, curvy roads and of course parking lot. So it wasn't a down the street and back experience...

1-Welcome to the Forum new person.

2-One is not better than the other they are just different, they will provide the rider a comfortable
way to travel. My son says his Road Glide Ultra has lighter feel and is more stable in the wind
I prefer my Street Glide with it's sit in feeling to the sit on feeling of the Road Glide.

3-Using all capital letters means your shouting at us.

The correct answer is....neither.....because the Limited tops them both. It's everything you'll ever need in a bike!
