Thought I smelled a little "post mold" when I opened this up.

This thread is just as relevant today as it was in 2014.

Carry on

No additional charges!
$1300 for 15,000 miles of service? That's basically 3 oil changes. Thank God I know how to use a ratchet and socket!

Real Funny!

It amazes me that so many don't know the major services are far more than just an oil change!

Actually 7 oil changes came with the service PLUS all the other check points of the 4 major services.

Yes I to know how to do an actual complete service. Just completed the 20 k in my shop week before last.

What exactly are they checking? I prefer to do my own "checking" but I'm old school and trust absolutely no one to touch my bike with a wrench. To each his own.

There are lists of what they are "supposed" to check on each service... and at the end of the lists, I believe all of them say "check critical fasteners". There is a list of critical fasteners in the service manuals for each model/year....

Now, am I naive enough to believe that all dealers check the critical fasteners on each service as required.... hell, no...

But a good dealer will, and the shady ones won't....... the knowledge of which kind of dealer you are using is critical...
