Default Knocked the new off my 2014 FLHTk

A truck kicked up something today as it passed me on the left hand side. Whack, nice chunk taken out of the fairing. It took 3700 miles for it to get its first bruise. Of course I'm OCD so it will take me weeks to get over it. At least I have a great wife who came out, looked at it, and said if I can't live with it then go buy a new fairing.

I'll hit it with some touch up paint and for the first time in my life accept the fact that **** like this happens to things you drive on the road.

I've got 2 fairings from my 2010 FLHTCU that have nice gashes take out of them sitting in my basement.

I'm going to go grieve...

LOL!

That is SAD! But what can you do, it happens. I’m sure a good body guy can make it better then new and most likely for less then a new outer fairing from Harley. We’re on our way to Sturgis next week-end and I’m worried that something like this will happen on the way. I really don’t like them, but we've been looking at a fairing bra for our trip; HD$ at the dealer.

At least it wasn't self inflicted. I put a ding on top of my back fender trying to adjust the sissy bar angle with a lever. I covered it with a towel and all, but I somehow put a dime sized ding in there. Nothing like the feeling of your own stupidity causing damage to a brand new bike. Paid a dent guy $75 to mostly remove it. Arghh..

Your a better man than I, if you can live with it.

Seriously; one of the things I love about my bike is that I ride it without freaking out over every little thing. I sold a Corvette cuz all I did was worry about it. Better to ride and not worry.

Best of luck

I can relate. However, your fairing did it's job and has gained a little character.

Pics?

Hate that. Seems anymore there is so much road **** from people not securing their loads. It can be dangerous for a bike. Other day I was following a rack truck and I swear the ladder was going to come flying off at me. Same ******** that drive way below the speed limit because crap is flying out of the trailer but won't take the extra minute or two to tarp it.

I would be buying a new one too.

It was certainly a pretty color combination before and after the injury.Better the fairing than You.I was hit with a shingle that flew up from under a SUV wheels, hit Me right in the fairing on My 2012 Limited. No damage done ,but I wonder what would happen to the Guy Who has no windshield or fairing to protect Him?

I put some touch up paint on it. A buddy of mine is a body man/painter and he is going to knock down the touch up paint hump I put on it and then clear it.

New fairing = $580 + shipping from Surdyke
Local dealer = $721

I am doing neither of those options. With my luck lately, the new one will get whacked again the week I put it on.

I don't drive close to people when possible and I'm not sure what came off the truck passing me other than it had a lot of grease on because there was smeared grease on the side of the fairing got whacked.

Thanks for all the support buys!
