Well what to say...If you are running Syn oil yeah 2500mi is alittle offten, but if you have the $ hey,me 3500-4 and then I pull the plug, the oil still looks good, sometimes it depends on the season, and when I can do it,I have done it at 2000 also, but that's what I do,and 5000 for the others. They way I look at it is it is cheap Ins.and if you are doing it yourself,it is about 60 bucks for all three holes.

Syn oil every 5000 in the engine or 1 year
Dino every 2500-3000 is good

Trans every 15000 if you use gear oil.
Primary every 5000

I just follow the factory schedule, 5k oil & filter, 10k primary and 20k transmission. My personal opinion is that it's a waste to do it any sooner. These are plenty stout and robust motorcycles built for the long haul, not fragile Christmas ***** but it's your bike and your money.

Just for clarity, the "look" of the oil says absolutely nothing... The two things that require a motor oil to be changed are chemical and water contamination (neither makes the oil "look dirty") and a decrease in the TBN. The only way to know the condition of either is through Used Oil Analysis. With that said, if you are using any half-decent oil, there is no reason in the world that either should be compromised when using anything near a factory recommended oil change interval.

If you're using synthetic and draining the oil at 2500 mi intervals, please send it to me when you drain it out- I'll gladly pay shipping! I'll run it another 2500-3000 miles & my motor will still last 150k+ miles.

For me, it's synthetic in the engine & Formula+ in the primary every 5k, transmission every 2 years using Redline Shockproof.

When I first got my bike the first oil change was at 1500. Now every 3000 for each.
Mobil 1 V-Twin for the motor & redline for the other two.
