Took my annual trip from Ohio to Quebec this past week. I stayed the night in North Bay then instead of heading north on Route 11 I went west on 17 . On the segment of my trip between Sudbury and Timmins I traveled 144. This was an awesome stretch of road. Very scenic almost like what Ive seen on some of the YouTube videos of the Black Hills in SD. Only 2 gas stations along this 100+ mile road, though.
Thanks for the post. I'm trying to find an interesting loop through Ontario & found 144 on a map. I'm thinking routes 17 & 11 to complete the loop, with a side-trip north as far as is reasonable. What do you know about 17 &/or 11?
17 and 11 are decent although there is some one lane construction every 30 miles or so. No big deal though. Both have nice scenery and go through small towns every so often.
