Default Crank bearing behind compensator

I have a 2007 Ultra and last fall I had to replace the compensator. I washed out the stator with contact spray and blew with air and ran white cloth behind stator till i was confident that nothing was behind it. Replaced with the screaming eagle kit. It still looks like a poor system but at that time that is all i could get.

My question is: Is the crank bearing on that side a sealed bearing or is it open to all the junk that floats around in the primary?

Now that I have time to think about it, it is on my list of concerns.
Thanks,
Jim

It is a open roller bearing, has been since 03 when they did away with the Timken.

Thanks Mark,
What keeps the primary oil from mixing with the engine oil? I know you drain two different compartments, and refill in two different places?
Thanks, Jim

It is sealed from the primary by an oil seal that is installed into the case.
