Default transmission oil change

I am a master mechanic (heavy truck) and I need to understand why the transmission oil needs to be changed at engine oil intervals as specified by my Harley dealer. There might be something that I am not aware of in a 6 speed.(2011 Dyna Super Glide)

Thanks, Jackie

Read the Owner's manual and never believe a dealer tech; trust but verify.

Sounds normal for the dealer to lie. Im use to it myself now. Always listen to what they say then verify it here or with a phone call to HD Milwakee. I once had to call Milwakee and talk to the warranty department cause the dealer said " If you change the oil yourself you will void the warranty ". And get this, I happen to call on a day where Karen Davidson was answering the phone. It was a great conversation.

Just got my factory manual delivered today. I'll research. Is one qt of oil so expensive you wouldn't change tranny lube more frequently than 20K? Not sure how the tranny is lubed, but in most cases, gear engagement in most bikes creates shearing forces that break down long molecules in multiweight oil. So if you'll leave it in awhile, does it seem good to use synthetic 20w50 for heat and shearing resistance? I honestly don't know.

The factory says 20k, pretty sure they know about molecules too. No reason to over think this stuff...
