Exclamation Primary case (inner)

I have run into a problem trying to replace my shifter seal on my 99 ultra classic. I cannot get the primary case separated from the engine and transmission. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it or if I need to remove it at all.

Hopefully you have removed all the mounting bolts, but have you removed the starter jackshaft bolt and the starter mounting bolts?

If they ( the bolts,) are all removed, the starter loosened and jack shaft taken out,) smack the case with a rubber mallet around the perimeter.

I have all the bolts out and also have removed the jack shaft. I have tried hitting it and some of it is loose but the area that I can't reach with the mallet is the part that is stuck. Any ideas how to break that seal where I can't get the mallet.

You have removed the starter mount bolts, right?
