Default What is this Chirping sound??

Hi to all,

Stats:
2003 Road King w/5500 miles. Has a chirping sound at idle and low rpms. listen here -

Don't believe it is the lifters. Sounds like it is from the exhaust. More of a pulse characteristics when the noise bouces off a object. Hence worse when on concrete.

I have also checked all rubber mounts. (I think)

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Yep, it sounds like exhaust leak to me. Btw, your rear header pipe appears very blue for just 5500 miles. JMO

Do you have rubber spacers on the top rear of the exhaust? I know on my Ultra I have to squirt them down with W-D40 every now and then because the begin to squeak. Not sure if yours has these or not, but you might check.

Flashprez-
I tried the WD 40 trick everywhere. Found no birds.

BTW- I was born in and grew up in Granite Falls. Parents still live there.

I thought the blue was normal. Must be running lean.

I guess I was comparing it to the front pipe. It seems like the rear much more blue than front. No big deal.

Check the y-pipe off the back jug. They crack...a lot.

And if the Y-pipe is cracked you can switch to a dual exhaust with either of these kits --

B&E Performance True Dual -- http://www.superflowmufflers.com/shopping.htm

Fullsac True Duals -- http://www.fullsac.com/true-dual-kits.html

Completely eliminates the Y-pipe so you'll never have a cracked pipe again :-)
