Default Harley down

Well I'm sitting at a convenience store in Laurel, MS waiting on my son to come pick me up. Sounds like the chain in slipping in the primary. When I tried to restart the bike it was the same type noise like the gear was stripped or the primary chain is slipping.

Just checked the primary fluid last night and that was good. Was heading to bike week on the 7th. Hellfighters Harley is waiting on me to get there and drop it off

Anyone got any ideas what it may be? 96" TC

Starter Bendix? I was moving down the road about 25 mph when I clutched to downshift gears. When I let out the clutch is when it started the primary chain to slipping. I don't see where the starter Bendix could be the problem.

When I crank on it the starter engages but the primary is slipping so therefore the engine is not being cranked over.

Nope I didn't explain that in my OP. That was my mistake. I didn't give all the situation while sitting and waiting and sitting and waiting. It's in the Indy shop now but they take Sunday and Monday off so it'll be Tuesday before I know anything at the earliest.

Bendix would have been the culprit based on it just slipping when trying to start.

Got it back from the Indy Harley Shop. I believe the mechanic said the bolt that holds the compensator sprocket on had backed out a little allowing the primary chain to slip off. He said it had Blue Loctite on it from the factory. He retorqed it with new Loctite, new primary gaskets and new M1 Racing 4T 10W40

Charged me an hour labor and parts for a total of $129.

Now isn't that great...sounded like a big $$$$$ fix and ya got a good indy that took pretty good care of ya..

I'm envisioning a dealers diagnostic charges would have been double that, plus the repair.

Praise the good Indy's.

Sounds like a good outcome to a bad situation.
