Default Help - 1998 Sportster 1200 crank pin nut

Hello everybody and thank you for reading this. I'm helping a friend of mine rebuilding a 1998 sportster he bought used. When he bought it he thought the engine needed a complete bottom end rebuild since it was very noisy. When we took it apart we realized that the bottom end is in good shape and the problem was caused by the primary side crank pin nut that came loose and was bouncing around in the primary case. The problem now is that the thread on the crankshaft is damaged and a new nut is not going in straight. Any idea of how to recover this thread? I have no idea about the size of the thread, the nut is 1-1/16". We're thinking about using a threading file but I'm not sure which one (60 degrees?) is the correct one. I'll post some pictures later, if I can. The other problem is to locate the correct part number for the nut. The parts catalogue calls for 23901-81 (NUT, crank pin) which we ordered but doesn't fit, too thin and too small. Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!!

This the part number.... The parts manual says that there are 2 crank shaft pins and they are the same...in reality the one on the primary side is different...
