Going south this summer and heard Little Sturgis in Kentucky is fun. Anyone been there?

 

Someone told me last weekend that they were no longer going to have the Little Sturgis run.

I've never been to it....Nor have I ever wanted to go to it.

 

You could save gas and ride to Sturgis Mi.

Wife and I rode there in 2012 so we can say we have been to Sturgis.

Sturgis S.D. would have been a lot closer for us, but I don't drink or like crowds.

 

They ARE having the rally. It's July 16-19, I believe. Haven't been for a few years. There was always some good entertainment and sights, but the damn golf carts and ATV's kind of took it over.

 

They still have it, just had to change the name. Can not remember what they call it now.
It's Sturgis, Ky western part. Close to IL.

 

The real Sturgis rally sued (or maybe just threatened to sue) over the name. Did the same to the rally in Sturgis, MS -- that used to be called "Sturgis South", changed to "The Rally at Sturgis, MS". I was there last August and one of the officials told me about the change.

It used to be extremely wild but I have heard it is toned down now.

 

I went 2014. It wasn't bad, jackyl played and they had the full throttle rock star girls there giving free samples of FTS version of moonshine, saloonshine I think is what they called it and Jesse James whiskey. It is a small town and is BYOB. No alcohol sales on premise. A lot of nudity and good biker rally fun. Not a lot of scenic rides though, pretty much go pitch your tent, go back to town to buy beer, come back and party for the wknd. Colors are allowed and well represented there.
All and all, a pretty good time. I don't know if it would be worth the drive for you. This year I plan going to the Boogie in Springville IN. Everyone I talk to says that rally is more fun and it falls the same wknd as the KY Bike Rally (lil sturgis). That one would be closer for you. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being best of small rallies, I personally would give KY bike rally a good solid 7, maybe 7.5.
If you do a search on this forum, there is a lot of older posts about lil sturgis, KY bike rally, and the Boogie. I've also heard it's not what it used to be.

I've been the last four years. It gets bigger every year I've been. I think it's a blast. There are places to ride if you know where you are going.

 

Has anyone been to this rally in the last couple years and if so is ok or just so so?
