Me and my friends embarked on a trip to Glacier N.P. from our base in CO. We never made it.
All was well until Togwotee Pass WY then it was alternately freezing rain and snow to rain. We waited two days in Moran for the weather to clear and continued to Yellowstone only to be met with bad weather again. The Beartooth Pass was closed so we aborted the original route and headed south to the Grand Canyon. Pictures describe a trip better than I can so I'll post a bunch with comments.

I'm contemplating a trip from San Diego to Glacier NP this year. But, it seems like a narrow window of tolerable heat vs. cold weather.

 

Yes the WX does have a narrow window. July or August is the safe bet. I thought right after Labor Day would be OK with less of a crowd, the ground still relatively warm.....guess I figured wrong! The clerk at the motel in Gardiner MT said the WX was a month early. That's my luck for you
