Heading to the Durango Co area in few weeks and looking for ideas on where to stay in that area? something with nightlife and food...

I see Pagosa springs has few hotels with hot springs that looks interesting but the one is booked for our dates...

anyone been to mesa verda? what kind time frame to see that?

recommendations for white water rafting companies in Durango?

the train is really 100$ one way? yikes

Grand Canyon looks to be a little stretch to see from Durango?

I see a lot hotels in Durango and did a search here but not a lot info on good hotels...

have been to durango on the bike 3 times, we just strolled into town and able to get a room. If there is one thing you do there, you have to ride from durango to silverton to ouray, unbeliveable

and if time allows, go over to telluride, we never stayed in telluride, it is very high dollar but it has a bunch of cool bars and restruants

Mesa Verde is about 2 hours from Durango and with time spent looking at the ruins, you will be most of a day. Nice ride and very interesting.

The San Juan Loop, Durango to Dolores, to Telluride to Ridgeway and the Million Dollar Highway back to Durango is about 300 miles and a day ride. One of the best.

Monument Valley is about 275 miles and a nice day ride out of Durango.

Durango is a very touristy place so most all the hotel/motel choices are adequate. Historic Strator Hotel in downtown is a very nice place, but pricy and parking can be iffy on a bike.

Grand Canyon is not much of an option for a day ride out of Durango. If you want to do that, plan on a night stay somewhere around Flagstaff. There is a very quaint little motel in Cameron, Az. that looks like it would be fun and it is very close to GC.

We just got back from a week stay in Durango.

Sorry, but we camped so no info on hotels. Looked like you have plenty of choices.

If your going to ride the train, better make reservations. We ended up just riding the bikes instead.

We did not have time to do Mesa Verde, but rode past several times on our way to Four Corners and Moab. Its about 40 miles from Durango.

Pagosa Springs looked like a good place to stay.

Went to the rodeo in Durango on Wednesday night. Don't eat before you go, they had some incredible food.

We did the KOA camping cabins last year in Durango. The train is a very nice ride. I reserved the seats that are in the open car that look straight out. I got the last seats in the row so we had a lot of room. People recommended ride the train up and ride the bus back. I would take the bus back.

I went to the Spa in Pagosa Springs 8-10 years ago while elk hunting in the mountains. Very nice. $20 They have different pools that they control the flow for different temperature pools.

There is a great BBQ place next to the Harley Dealership in Durango. Do the 300 mile loop as it is awesome!! Took these with my drone last year!!

We stayed at Alpen Rose in a toyhauler RV. Too old to tent camp. Did not see any tents at that place, but, was not looking for them either.

Probably the KOA is your best bet.

We road the loop and also rode up to Moab.

Came back thru La Sal to Ouray and went through some red rock canyons that were spectacular.

Definitely diverse landscapes. desert, canyons and mountains on a 400 mile ride.
