Default "The Snake" Shady Valley Tennessee

Those of you that pilgrimage to the dragon and Blue Ridge Parkway, plan a day to ride "The Snake". That is hwy 421 and hwy 91 between Bristol and Mountain City, TN. This road is locally quite poplar with both cruisers and sport bikes. The area crosses 3 mountains with many more curves and challanges than The Dragon. Be careful the curves have some good sized dropoffs. I was there Sunday 3/14 and came upon a sport bike that had just laid it down and went airborn and down at least a 100' embankment. Thanks to good protective equipment and the grace of God he was alive but injured. They had to winch the stretcher up the ravine. Ride carefully!

Rode that area last year and had a blast. Check out www.shadyvalleycountrystore.com for more info. We camped out at www.switchbackcreek.com while in the area.

Man I wish you guys would quit doing this. I've only got about 10 days to do my Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Dr/Dragon/Cherohala Skyway/Diamonback ride this year and you guys keep coming up with more "roads to ride" than I have time for this summer. I may have to make a second trip down there this fall.

+1 on 321 around Watauga Lake. We rode around that yesterday, it is a nice ride anytime. Hwy 67 from Mountain City to Hampton is another route around Watauga, the uppermost Lake in the TVA system, and without a doubt, the most beautiful.

When your in the area take hwy 221 from Linville, NC to Blowing Rock. It is very twisty and scenic. It passes under the Blue Ridge Parkway near Grandfather Mountiain viaduct.
