Default Sturgis area rides

Riding out this year for the 'week prior' to the big bash and was wondering about some recommended day rides other than the Needles (done that) and riding in and around Mt Rushmore (done that too).

Ditto on Spearfish. Custer State Park. Spend some time in Deadwood.

Devils Tower is impressive....we checked that out last time we were through the area.

We did miss Spearfish Canyon, and where is Iron Mtn Road?

Iirc it seems there was this little ghost town east of Rapid City off 90 that still had a bar operating in it.

Lots of great rides in that area. Once your up there pick up a map of the area. It shows a bunch of roads to ride on.

Also checkout Rough lock falls in Spearfish canyon by Savoy, very beautiful place. About a mile of gravel but well worth it!! Deadwood, Spearfish canyon, Devil's tower, Iron Mtn. Road, Mt. Rushmore, Needles Hwy, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park are all easy day rides from Sturgis. The Badlands are cool too, take Hwy 44 out of Rapid City a lot more scenic than I-90 ride it both ways, out in the morning, back in the late afternoon it changes with the setting sun. When you get to the end of Spearfish canyon at Cheyenne Crossing take a right and head toward Buckhorn Wy, kinda cool little tavern there and the food is good then into Sundance Wy, and from there you can head to Devil's tower, very nice ride. Enjoy your stay in our beautiful state!!

North of Belle Fourche about 30 miles on a side road off of Rt 85 is a small marker showing the center of the US. It's not the pretty riding country of the Black Hills but while in the area and if a person has the time it's someplace different to ride to and take your picture.
