Brother and I are wanting to ride to Sturgis this year, problem is we can only stay from Aug. 2nd to the 5th. Now I am sure most of you know that rooms/cabins nearby want you to stay the whole rally, and as much as we want to we have to be out of there. So, does anyone in this forum have ideas on places for the few nights we plan on being there?

Try the "First Gold Casino" in Deadwood. Stayed there last year. About 175.00 per night, but clean and simple. Covered parking in front and back, buffets etc. Located at the north? end of Deadwood right near the Sturgis turnoff so you don't have to fight the traffic in Deadwood. About 10 mi to Sturgis, nice ride.

If you're OK with staying in the south end of the Hills you might try Custer. I made a reservation a couple weeks ago for the same dates and I recall Custer had some room...believe the Rocket was one.

 

Also, a lot of hotels block off those dates till later in the year (to drive up$$$$) so keep trying. Try AAA or Expedia

 

I made res. at Custer also. Got a cabin for $145 for the 2end to the 5th also. There is great riding between Custer and Sturgis.

 

Pack a tent and sleeping bag and stay at any campground of your choice. Price anywhere from 20 bucks a night to 100 depending on the entertainment.

 

Where in Custer?

 

I plan to leave Oklahoma with my tent and bedroll, never intending to make a reservation anywhere. Most all of the campgrounds will let you stay a night without a reservation.
