Default First long (ish) ride on the bike

I know dome of you crusty old iron butts wont consider this a long ride but it is the longest ride to date for me. most of my riding has ben close to home and back to forth to work. I finally took a day and just rode. Yesterday was my birthday so I was off work, but needed to go up to Huntsville (TX) to take care of my kids college stuff (could have done it on line but wanted to go up there) the ride up is normally about 45 miles north up I45 but I took the long way thru Sam Houston National Forest which totaled about 75 miles from the house. Handled the tuition payment took the kid to lunch then headed back. on the way back I took a detour in the middle of the national forest went north to Cold Springs Texas turned back and went Back west just following back roads no map and phone had no service so !! ended up in Willis then I headed on home on the back roads thru Splendora and New Caney and then home sweet home. all in all it was about 125 miles home and a great birthday ride.

some of you east Texas and Houston area guys will know the roads here is a pic along the way

I love the long local rides. I pick out a place on the map and take every back road I can to get there and back. I highlight the route I took on a map and then I chart out a new ride to a different place the next weekend.

Tunes and the open road clear the work weeks mind.

You did the perfect distance for a ride IMO. Quite frankly I couldn't care less how far the 'iron butts' ride.

The only thing better than that is to be done for the day and you're sittin' in a Motel in the mountains throwin' couple back and don't have to be back home for 13 more days. That's fun.
