Default 2000 two cable carb on a 76 Shovel???

With the risk of making myself look like an idiot, can I run a stock carb off a 2000 softail (88cubic inch) on a 1976 Shovel. I believe the 2000 has some type of vacuum assist but am not sure and deffinetly not a carb expert.

If its going to be more effort then its worth, let me know. Its the only carb I have and am working on a non exsistent budget.

If it will take some tinkering I'll give it a go and if you can detail the tinkering or steer me in the right direction it would be appricated

Thanks

it's a CV carburetor
They run good on shovels
You'd need an intake adapter and I think new throttle cables... not sure the new cable work on the pre 81 controls though.
Not sure about the vacuum port... I think it can be plugged

I run a cv on my 72. I plugged the vacumm and got an adapter to fit the manifold. You can use the stock 76 cable by cutting back the housing a little.

They are an inexpensive carb that work as well as an S&S. They give great performance and fuel economy with the advantage of being a stock carburetor.

And i have one in my shop, that was my biggest advantage.

I am not a mechanic as i said before, and was wondering if you can bypass or seal off the vacuum lines, what the overall purpose of having them at all, whats the advantage and how does it still work without using them.

Thanks again

it works with the vac plugged.
As far as I know it works with bikes with a VOES switch to advance or retard ignition.
So in order to use the vac you'd need to add a VOES switch and a later model ignition or an after market one that supports that.

If you're considering setting up a cv carb for a shovel check out this old thread. It's pretty good
