Default 2017 M8 Oil Pressure Display

On my 14 the oil pressure would display in PSI. On the 17 I only get OK. Am I missing something?

PS not SAC (smart assed comments) please just looking for help.
Thanks

Evidently actual pressure readings are not good for the masses - so The MOCO thinks. Now you get a go-no go reading. I for one want the psi. I hate idiot lights.

I believe that in the past , guys would see oil pressure at an idle on a hot day around 10psi and run to the dealer thinking it was too low. (When it really wasn't). So now take away that visual and the dealer service depts don't have to waste time on a non issue. But I do agree that the OK that is now displayed is equivalent to an idiot light. Goes to show you what the moco thinks of some of us.

there is a kit available in the parts and accesory catalog to give you the pressure reading like before.

So, you pay more for a bike that has fewer features, then pay the Magnificent MoCo additional money to bring it up to pre-'17 standards?

That's pretty fcuked up right there.

Just read Harley threads on this forum for a while and you'll get the feeling many Harley riders are either simple dumb ***'s with a **** ton of money or they have never cracked into an engine and have no mechanical skill or knowledge. They have no clue what oil pressure is...let alone what OIL is...someone changes it for them. Heaven forbid they might get a substance known to the state of California to be a known carcinogen on their SKIN!

If a large and vocal group are up MoCo's *** enough, changes will be made.
How's that saying go..."Never under estimate the power of ignorance in large numbers" or something to that effect.

Point in case...look how the bags are now attached with wazoo thumb screws, and how many of us have been riding these hogs for years and never had a problem with bags detaching...Just say'n

2017's still have oil injectors at the cylinder bases to spray the underside of the piston for a heat reduction. They only work above idle since that have a spring that takes about 18lbs to open them all the way. As designed, the idle oil pressure does not have a limiter and is just designed into pump size and designed oil viscosity. There is a pressure relief on the main oil flow for cold and high speed.
This prevents cooking the oil short term at a red light. At speed, air flow controls heat.

You gage is now a more fancy light. Do you still have a light?

Put a picture on here. Be nice if you go to control panel and update your signature to you year, model and code for your bike...

People got to rapped up in pressure. Most modern engines use low draw oil pumps. It is volume not pressure that is important.
