Motorcycle Stand
The time has arrived where I have to hang up my leathers and stop riding. Age and illnesses have forced me to give up this sport. When my riding senses and abilities began to diminish some time ago, I knew I would have to give up riding. The time is now, but I am not getting rid of my 2006 Softail. My 26 year old son and 23 year old daughter do not want me to sell it, but neither one knows how to ride a motorcycle. My plan is to at least be able to turn on the engine and listen to the motor and smell the exhaust. I want to keep the motorcycle off the ground. Would it be possible to find some kind of stand, not a lift, to lift the motorcycle a few inches off the ground so that the tires do not rot? I would like to find some kind of structure that bolts on to the frame that is steady and that keeps the motorcycle up right. Any suggestions?

This may sound like a broken record but it seems like a Redline dolly is what you're after.
It's adjustable so you could set it so that the bike is just off the ground.
It's one of my favorite tools I've bought for my bike.
Here's a review I did of it.

That's true but it sounds like once it's on the dolly, it ain't coming off it for some time.
If the OP doesn't have a jack, they could simply roll the bike up onto two 2X6's slide the dolly under the bike and roll the bike off the 2X4s onto the dolly or just get some help lifting the bike.
I'm sure they can figure out a way to elevate the bike a few inches off the ground.

I use one that looks similar to this one, just a little more robust.

Thanks to all for your input. I am sure most of you older bikers (I am 66) can understand that getting rid of a bike is hard, especially if it is in your blood and the itch to ride does not go away. Now days, I find that I find enjoyment even in the simple act of sitting on it and listening to the rumble of the engine and the sound of the mufflers. I even love the smell of fumes in the morning!! With that said, I will look for a sturdy lift to lock in place and keep it up right which will allow me to sit on it. Keep the rubber side down!!
