Fender and Tank service covers? do you own them?
are there any drawbacks to these items? (links below)
If you've ever pulled a fairing and dropped a socket on your fender (or tank) you may be like me and considered buying these.
have done the 'towel' thing on the tank or fender but it slides off etc, once I had to put a piece of tape to hold it on. Kinda PITA.
Anyway, wondering if anyone owns these and if there are any negatives to them (do they scratch the clearcoat underneath etc)
OR, is there an aftermarket set for less $$ that fits touring bikes?, am ok w/ that too.

Side note: one thing about these forums Im not a fan of is I have to 'subscribe' to my own thread to be able to 1) easily find it again 2) see if there are any replies.
(dont want email notifications jamming up my email inbox)
shouldnt posting a thread automatically 'subscribe' you to it?

I usually use automotive fender covers. Never had a problem with scratches, but they can slide off easily.
As to your other question, go to "User CP", go to "Messaging & Notifications" and the "Default Thread Subscription Mode", click "no email notification" in the drop down box. Scroll to the bottom and click "save". That should do it.

I don't get emails currently, but if I post a thread OR if someone directly quotes me or responds to me in a thread, why wouldn't I receive a notification of that when I login? (in the user CP so I could just click and go to the message). Thx.

I want the hard plastic form fitting ones with the bolt holder built into the front fender cover. Anyone that's ever been to harley factory tour will know what i am talking about. Here is the tranny cover and detailed info of company who makes them. They are felt lined so no scratching takes place, and hard shell so no denting of anything is even a concern.
