Default Q about my new to me fatboy

Hey guys. First let me say that I'm new here and appreciate any help that you can offer.

What I have: I recently purchased an 02' fatboy in close to stock condition. Other than being lowered and having extra chrome and dodads, such as a detach fairing (I like the fairing) it is mostly stock and in near show room condition with low miles.

My overall plan for the bike (in my head and subject to change) is a 26" front mammoth spoke wheel, bolt on rake triple tree and a set of medium apes for the front end. Yes I'm sure there will be other little things but that is the biggies.
For the back, a air bag suppension, dual exhaust, stretched bags and fender and that's about it.

I kind of have most of that figured out, but here is where the questions lie. I'm 6'3" and about 300lbs today. I'm a overall big guy and not "just" fat but am having difficulty with the roominess on the bike. I had similar issues with my 01' roadking years ago and corrected it with extended controls and highway pegs but this bike doesn't seem to have as much room.
I will say that I'm getting a new hip in a 4 weeks and that should help some and I generally feel stiff and less flexible even though I'm only 47.

I feel so cramped on this bike that I have yet to even ride it. I don't think I can get my legs up and around the crash bars. If I remove them, where would I put highway pegs? The seat also seems to be part of the problem...any suggestions?

I purchased my roadking new in 01' and put an additional 20g in it and did everything except the paint myself....I have no intentions of going that far here.
Thanks, BigJimBab

If you are not comfortable sitting on the bike, sell it and use the money towards a bike that you are comfortable on.

I wasn't comfortable on my road king either until after making adjustments.

I didn't really buy a fat boy because that is what I wanted. What bike is really what you want when you get it. It was an incredible purchase allowing me some savings to make it what I want.
The wrenching and mods aren't much issue as I have lots of mechanical experience just looking for ideas.

If I remove crash bars, is there a viable place for highway pegs? Can't say I have paid much attention to this detail before.

What about pulling floorboards going going w forward controls? Or I believe it is kuryakyn that makes a top bar only footrest.

Or their flip blades http://www.kuryakyn.com/products/3813/flip-blades

BigJim,

I also have an 02 Fatboy. Spent years and a bucket of money modifying and re-modifying it until I got it dialed-in. Riding it is like going down the road on a Lazyboy recliner. One recommendation is to move your floorboards forward and out. Easy mod which makes a huge difference in comfort.

Shoot me a mail at olongapo2@gmail.com I'll send photos, part numbers, and links.
