Default 07 fxstc windshield ( I know - I know )

Just put a standard size windshield on the bike(07 fxstc) and I'm getting alot of turbulence around my face and helmet. This is my very first street bike ever, so I was wondering if this is normal. The bike rides awesome without the shield, but I gotthe shieldfor trips and the wife. Thanks in advance Kirk.

Man, I noticed the exact opposite. I was being blown all over the place until I put the winshield on. What a difference. Perhaps yours is to low for you.

It's normal... low pressure is produced behind windshield
as faster air is moved up over the front of the windshield...i.e. how a wing lifts an airplane...
This low pressure behind the windshield pulls up air from below/infront of gas tank causing turbulenceand buffeting of
the head and helmet...
I use the lowers as discussed in these links. They work!

I didn't like the idea of a standard windshield on a softail custom, so went with a windvest & get zero turbulence with it on.

There's been lots of posts on this topic, so you might want to do a search.

I had lots of buffeting with my windsheild until I took off the peak on my open face helmet - now no worries!

If you have one on your helmet take it off - you'll be surpeised.

All the eddies push down on the peak causing turbulence.

I had big turbulence problems with my Windvest. Lots of turbulent air coming from the bottom.
The cure?
Believe it or not, just lowering it an inch made a big difference. It look a lot better too.
As far as a windshield goes, I'll NEVER ride without one again.. I can actually enjoy the ride now.

I just put the 14" Windvest on my fxstc last week. Ran it in different positions and finally ended up as high as it would go, inline with the forks. Cuts the wind force down to about 1/2. Actally made use of the 6th gear since it's install and the ole says it even helps reduce her air. No sore neck, no gravel in the face and havn't cleaned my glasses since. And the best part is it looks cool , keeping the custom look intact.
