Today I took a ride in typical mid-winter 52-55 degree weather. Typically I ride my Softail Deluxe without a windshield, but today I put it on. Quite a difference. No more buffeting on my chest - helped keep me warmer, but I don't like the height, since if I slouch even a bit, I alternate between seeing over or through the windshield, very annoying.

I also found that the helmet buffeting was much lower, until I poked my head at or near the top of the windshield and then it was pretty bad - worse than none at all.

So, what is the right height for a windshield, and do others have the buffeting problems I found?

I had my windshieldcut down until the top is level/even with my nose, so I can look over it.I don't have any helmet buffeting at all. I also have the HD Wind Deflectors - they really cut out a lot of the wind that comes from around the forks.

 

which one do you have - the 20.5 inch from headlamp or the 17.5inch one?
