Default carb idle increase

I need to increase the idle on a carbed 04 fxst. Without taking the carb apart I noticed that the idle cable has a phillips adjustment screw that looks like it will slightly increase the idle. There is enough slack in the cable that I won't snap the cable. I am dying after about 15-20 seconds at a stop. I can't get a phillips screwdriver on the screw but would probable be able to turn it with some neddle nose plyers. Anybody ever do this?

A long phillips should fit in there.

I'm not too sure what you mean by this.

There sould be a phillips screw (the one your talking about I belive) that is on the right side of the carb. It is a set screw that controls how open the throttle stays when your idleing, should be attaced to the part that your cables attach to. If you turn it in just a little bit it will increas your idle. You should do this with the engine running so you dont turn it to much.

After digging around in my tools I found a long thin phillips screwdriver and the idle is now up enough where it doesn't die.
Baron, I think I read somewhere when adjusting the throttle/idle cable you need to be careful not to adjust to tight. This won't be a cable adjustment so I am good to go. Thanks
