Default Extra Windshield for '07 Heritage

The OEM windshield on my '07 Heritage is too short. It cuts right across my road view, so I either slump a bit or sit as straight as I can to see over it. So I'm thinking of getting an extra windshield but had a few questions. Maybe some of you folks who have already cross this bridge can help.

Anyone buy the replacement windshield (I think it's part 58657-97A) that is 2 inches taller? Any problems with mounting or with vision after the mount?

I couldn't find the quick detach hardware online, anyone know the parts number? I wouldn't mind having the taller windshield for road trips and the stock windshield for local rides, but I'd need a second set of mounting hardware to really get the use of the quick detach system. Ideas?

Don't you mean that the stock windshield is to tall?

Ideally you should be looking over the top of the windshield not through it. If it rains.... you won't be able to see crap only being able to look through the windshield.

I had the same problem you did with the stock one. I ordered a replacement memphis shades and used the same hardware. This windshield I think if I remember right is a 17 inch.... Now I can look over the top by a couple of inches and never have to slouch or sit up as straight as possible to look over.

I ordered mine through Cyclespot.

I cut mine down to 18", it's perfect now. It was 21" when stock.

Memphis Shade here, you want to look over, just get caught in the fog and you'll understand

I don't agree. I've owned my bike since new (5 years)and have never had problems in the rain or looking through the shield. It's a matter of opinion I would say or personal prefference. The rain has no more or less effect on vision than goggles, glasses or a face shield. That's my .02.

Taller means no wind fatigue. I use my bike for touring pimarily but our rides are usually nothing less that 250-300 miles on any Sunday. Never one bit of problems looking through the shield.

As stated a matter of opinion I guess. But I have been in the rain with the stock sheild where I couldn't see thru it. That along with rainy goggles and it scared the crap out of me. I also lived in California for 3 years and the fog out there sucks to where it would make the sheild so bad you can't see thru it. My preference is looking over the top.

lots of opinions about windshield height - the MSF instructor taught us to have the windshield level with your nose and to look over the top......

HoWEVER - that might have been his opinion....

I went with the 17" shield from Memphis Shades and would never go back to a taller shield; less buffeting, it doesn't act like a sail in cross winds, and visibility is much better.
