Question Too Tall??

Hope I didn't screw up. Just installed a 21" replacement windshield on my 14 Heritage. The stock 18" one was too short. I was looking 4" over it & catching all kinds of bugs & crap & I'm only 5'8". But this new one really looks TALL. Have not tested ridden it yet, so we will see.

What is there to screw up? If you don't like the 21" windshield you can change IT, too. There are unlimited windshield heights. You can cut down a windshield to a custom height as well.

The recommendation is to look OVER the windshield. Some riders don't like that so they prefer to look THROUGH the windshield. To each his own.

You just have to find the windshield that works best for YOU.

Now, according to what you mentioned, you will still be looking over the 21" windshield (by 1"). So, you will likely still get hit by bugs or other flying objects.

If you are stuck and have the tools cut it to the height you want. Don't want to do that then many auto glass stores will cut it for you.

It's supposed to be about or just under eye level so that you can see over it.

I have the 21" shield on mine. When I slouch I look through the shield and when I sit up straight I look over. I mostly slouch so I am looking through mine, not a problem for me.

Just ride it and see what you are comfortable with.

I've had my Heritage Classic stock windshield cut down by an Indy, he did an ok job but not great, however it's at a good height for me. On my Springer the Dealer installed a tall windshield. I don't mind looking through it but I haven't ridden it in torrential rain yet and I'm not sure how that's going to work out.

You can check out flared/recurved windshields if your not happy with the 21" and don't want to cut it down. Supposedly they will push the air up a little higher. Should reduce getting buffeted by the wind. You'll still get hit by some bugs.
