Default Windshield vs. no Windshield

I hve a 2013 Heritage Clasic and this is the first bike I have had tht has the option for removing the windshield.

So for the past week I took the Windshield off and a couple things I know.

I love the look of the bike without the windshield.
It is colder and windier without the windshield, mornings going to work have been 28 - 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

My eyes water big time at first when starting out but gets better as I get used to it. I am wearing prescription sunglasses.

I put the windshield back on today and the ride to work was more comfortable.

It may be a whole different feel once the weather warms up, looking forward to riding in the 70's and 80's without the windshield and maybe being more comfortable.

Another thing is the wind noise is pretty high without the windshield so I ended up putting ear plugs in, but then I could not here my new pipes as well.

Lots of trade offs, not sure which way I will go yet, or will I just go both ways?

Easy.......... Windshield for long rides. No windshield for short trips.

That is what I am thinking I may end up doing.

I may add windshield when it is colder than 50

I fought getting a windshield.... but after using one, I will never take it off. Also, since I have a windvest, it is less obvious that I have a shield. In fact, most don't even notice it until I point it out. My windvest blends really well with my scoot, which I love because I do like the look of a bike without a shield.

I've been spoiled by the windshield on my Heritage.

I have the detachable but it never comes off.
Comfort wins over looks.

I tried running without mine a couple times for short trips, but not anymore. I'm much more comfortable just leaving it on.

Oh, I think we all struggle with the windshield idea at first. The beauty of the Heritage is that you can take it off, ride to town and back, put it on and go on vacation. I like the looks with it off better too as I think most people do, BUT it sure feels better on. I take mine off every spring for a while, and then after getting smacked in the face a few times by junebugs, it goes back on.

No windshield for me. This is my 3rd bike and none have had a windshield. I even bought one once and rode six hrs to get home...then took it off. But my new Road King has surprised me in that I believe the huge headlight forms an air foil and my body is inside this pocket. It certainly feels better (less body buffetting) than my other Harleys but it's the King.
