Could someone give me the height measurement on a standard HD windshield. I have a Memphis Shade 17" El Paso and am thinking of going a little higher to cut back on a little more wind. I'm thinking the standard HD is around 19". Thanks for the help.
Yea, I'm pretty sure the HD is 21" I have the Memphis Fats 19" and it comes to my upper lip, I'm 6'2". Most people seem to prefer it just below their line of sight. Surprisingly, alot of helmet buffeting with a shield is caused by air flow coming from below the shield and up around the sides of the gas tank. You can test this by sliding up on the seat and tucking your knees in tight against the tank.
I've got the standard windshield and I find it really annoying. It's right in my line of sight.
Mine is close to my line of sight too, which keeps reminding me to "keep my eyes and chin up". It forces me to sit up straight, and keep looking ahead. As a new rider, that's one of the things I needed to learn. This just helps me...
I also had HD move it down just a bit so that it was just a little bit lower than my line of sight which did help a lot.

I will try sliding forward and tucking my knees into the tank. I found that a lot of the buffetting was greatly reduced with the windshield though.
I'm going to replace my windshield with a Memphis shield once I'm comfortable enough to feel I won'tlay it down anymore. I got my windshield installed and 2 days later laid the bike over making a left turn (my own inexperience) and scratched it. Once I get more comfortable/confident, I'll replace my scratched one with one that's colored on the bottom.

If you don't know it, the Memphis Fats lexan is sold seperately from the mounting hardware and bolts right on to the HD brackets. You can buy just the shield seperatly for a little over $100.
