Default My Crossbones lowering kit is killing me!

Just got the Burnout CyCles lowering kit for my 08 Crossbones. I don't care how easy everyone says it is to get those shocks back in- I am seriously stumped! Theclutch sideshock just drops right in. When I go to put the adjacent shock in- it's a no go. I have read everyone's threads that it's a struggle, I even wrote JP Cycles. I have it up on a lift with the mini jack underneath. I put the shock in stem first like they recommend but it doesn't even come close to fitting because the clearance it lessened by the trans and the motor- the eye end has a good 1/4 to 1/2" before it would even come close to clearing the little cross member. JP Cycles just said to compress the bushing but that just doesn't cut it. It's going to be the first really nice day on Sunday and it makes me sick to only have 8 measly miles on my new hog Please please help!
Thanks!
Marge

That old saying hit it w/ a bigger hammer works. Except in this case use a dead blow hammer. Ther made of rubber w/ sand in them so they won't mess up your shocks. Push up and swing hard good luck.

put something under the the rear tire so that it would all the up in the fender, and dont bolt the front of the left shock in until you have them both in there

Using a lift (or floor jack) adjust the wheel height so the eylets in the shocks align. It is a PITA, but one the bolts go thru, your home.

I've done shocks three times in mine now (last time was cake - 35 min)

Ok guys, I do have a dead blow hammer. At this point I have no problem giving it a good crack. Thanks for all your help- we'll see how it goes...

I just lowered my 08 custom last night. I got the kit from burly, White bro. Things went real well. Took me about 1 hour to install. I like this kit because you can ajust hight with shocks on the bike. You can go 1/4 over stock or 2 inches below. I lowered mine about 1 and a half and went one round more of preload, my girlfriend and i went for a ride last night and no bottoming out even with my girlfriend on the back. I will post some photos later tonight.

A total pain in my fanny- but I got it done. I had the bike on the lift and used the Larin jack to get the weight off the rear. I then blocked the rear wheel all the way up into the fender and you know what? That shock still wouldn't clear the motor. Decided to take the kit off, drop the shock back in and put the extension on from the front. Killer; but it worked. Dropped it as far as it would go and I currently am measuring 5 inches from frame to floor at the rear; plus I got the JP Cycles shorter seat springs. They are not as sturdy as the stock springs; but I weigh 105#. Now when my hubby sat on it, those poor springs were squashed! So long story short, it's in and I'm low... Once I can figure out what I'm doing wrong with posting pics I'll throw some on so everyone can see. Thanks for all the advice...
