Same here. But are you allowed to get away with finger less gloves with these things?

Default Hand Deflectors from National Cycle

I live in the northeastern Illinois area and like to use my bike as much as possible when the weather permits this. The mornings get very cool in the Spring and Fall (40's and 30's). I have heated grips because after trying numerous gloves, my fingers would become numb from the cold air blowing over them. The heated grips helped somewhat, but the hand deflectors helped more. I was reluctant to buy them at first because I wasn't sure how they would look on my road king classic, but after seeing them on another bike, I tried them and am very happy with them. They accomplish the same thing that a fairing does, without all the extra weight on the front forks. That weight is very noticeable when steering those bikes at low speeds and so far I don't see the need for a radio.

wear gloves with inserts. I have a sleeping bag rated -30 degrees. I'm sure
there is a glove system that can help.

I've tried every possible type of glove and insert and they don't work when it gets into the lower 40's. The only ones that came close were mittens that the government bought that are meant for artic weather and they were too bulky to work the controls. The deflectors are the best solution so far. Don't knock them if you haven't tried them.

What d'ya mean you've never heard of 'em? They've been around for years, and vary between the spade like wind deflectors found on 2v BMW GS boxers to what we in the UK call 'mitts', which are like riding with your hands in plastic gallon containers on the end of your bars.

I could never get on with the full jobbies, but the spade like ones are fine, if butt ugly. Probably go very well with my 'Bones, then!!
