Default gauge light stays on

Hello folks. I've been a member for a couple of years and have obtained a lot of good info on this site. Have never had an issue with my bike until now. I have a 05 Deuce. Went out to the garage to go on a ride yesterday and saw that my gauge lights were on. The bike was off and the ignition locked as well. Cannot figure out why the gauge lights stays on. Has never happened before and as I was tooling around, I noticed that the gauge light will go off if I pull the front brake lever but comes right back on if I let go of the lever. The same thing happens if I push the directionals. Mind you this all happens with the ignition in the off or locked position. Any ideas or suggestions? I had to tie the front brake lever down with a string so the gauge ligthts stay off and I don't drain the battery. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or solutions.

sounds like a shorted connection somewhere. you're going to have to do a little troubleshooting.

I have read where the button on the left side of your speedometer, the one that you can push in, without the bike running, to check your odometer reading, will get stuck. Try pushing it in and out several times to see if that helps.

Came out this morning and started pushing all the buttons and flicking switches on my handlebar. The light went off. Not sure what caused it but if it happens again, might have to take it to a professional to take a look at her. Thanks for the suggestions.

Was the bike exposed to any moisture, rain, humidity lately?

My first car was a '76 Firebird, the defrost fan only worked in the rain..., which was fine by me. Couldn't get the fan to turn on on a dry day, no matter what I tried. Well, except for the hose.

Bet you don't have one of those little bells hangin' off the bottom of your bike. Now you know............. one of those road Gremlins came home with ya.

75% of things that don't work right, either need to have the power disconnected and reconnected or.......... a swift kick.
