Default 2012 fxdwg gauge light cuts out

Hello all!! My 2012 FXDWG has been having the strangest issue lately. I do a lot of night riding and randomly my gauge light will shut off. Right before it does this I notice the head light seems to get brighter. I have tried to trouble shoot this, but hard since it happens very random. I have checked the connections in the back and everything seems fine. I hate to try to replace the gauge as my warranty just ran up in April (figures). Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks all!! Safe Riding!!

Could also be a loose (-) wire.

I had the same problem with my 12 FXDWG, headlight would dim and would occasionally cut out or die. Check all the ground and the positive cable on the starter. Mine ended up being a loose battery cable on the starter.

If you're meaning the speedometer, its a sealed unit. I had to have mine replaced shortly after buying mine. My backlight would just go out, and I could bump it with my hand and sometimes it would come back on.

Thanks all. Yes the speedometer, but it has so much more to it that just my speed. I will be checking all my wiring very soon as the bike is down right now. Shift paw centering spring broke today, so yay 4th of July weekend. If I can't ride it this weekend at least I'll still be spending time with her.
