Lightbulb What is the best kind of license plate mount

I am looking for the best side mount LED license plate with mount for my Rocker... perferably one that mounts to the belt guard. How many wire run from it and can I wire it to the existing plug.

Kuryakyn makes a nice one, well made with an LED run/brake. It mounts to the swingarm. I don't think a beltguard would be stable enough. You route the wiring back up to the battery box and pick upthe harness going to the taillight and use the quick connect splicers to tie in.

see it here.......I set mine up with the light at the top.....in this picture it's on the bottom.

Greetings,

I'm running a V-Twin Motorcycle Parts belt guard side mount kit for a '06-'07 FXST. I have white LED license plate light bolts that work just fine on there. As far as the wiring goes, I encased the two wires in black shrink-wrap and ran it along the swingarm. You can't tell at all they are there (It helps that my frame is black).

I have read about the Kuryakyn ones breaking many times on here. Just my 2 cents.

You'd have to whack it pretty hard to break it, like lay the bike down. I don't imagine the one I have would break easier than any others I've seen. It's very stout, and heavy....great chrome too. They may make a cheaper version but the one I posted the link to is solid.

I installed mine on the shock bolt but could put it on the belt guard or axle. Ordered the side plate off ebay for $22.00 and some Black LED tag bolts $16.00 (links below).

Hey Mojo,
do you have a pic with your mounted. I just purchased one with the brake light. I have mine rough mounted with it on bottom. I kinda like it that way but was wondering about on top.

Having done about a dozen different side mounts over the years I have to save the best damn built ones are from Heartland USA. They mount to the inside portion of the rear footpeg mounting hole. They are built like a brick ****house and they fold in, and the finish is very durable so if you lay the bike down there is a good chance you wont destroy it. Comes in 3 flavors, chrome, black, or black and chrome. DOT approved as well.
