Default DO you need the SE Pro Super Tuner with new pipes?

I'm looking to get either Big Radius, True Duel or Short shots Vane & Hines for my '08 Deluxe. I just had my 5,000 mile check up and had a K & N oil and air filter (TC-88) put in. Do I need the SE Pro Super Tuner, 459.95 from the local Harley dealer, put in also. Or are they trying to get more out of me.

Big Radius V & H 699.95
SE Pro Super Tuner 459.95
Dyno-Tune 300.00

My friend told me to not get the SE tuner and just tell them to put it on the dyno-tune and re-map it.

Thanks, Scott

I would get some sort of tuner....PowerCommander, Thundermaxx or SE Tuner. Your bike will run alot better with one. I don't think you need to spend that much money. I found a almost new PC V on here for $125, threw it on in 10 minutes and ran the map Dynojet suggested. It runs perfect, not a hiccup.

Kind of divided on here, but many have run their bikes just fine after changing the exhaust without adding a tuner AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT ALSO CHANGE THE AIR CLEANER. If you do change out the air cleaner as well, it is agreed by all that you will need a some fuel management system, which one is just a matter of preference and what you are willing to spend. Power commander 5, TTS, and Thundermax all seem to be well liked.

PS. You can get a Thundermax for the price of the SuperTuner and dyno, and very likely never need another dyno again. And you can get the TTS Mastertune for around the same price as the Super Tuner and many are very happy with it. It is my next purchase. And unless I am completely out to lunch, probably won't need any dynos now or in the future with it either. One of the sponsors, Fuel Moto, sells them and they are well liked and provide excellant customer service from anything I have read. They also sell the Power Commander V, I think it is $295, and they will map it too the same setup you are running on your bike. Shouldn't need a dyno for that one either.
