Wet vs Dry Primary Capacity

Wet vs Dry Primary Capacity
Ok gentlemen, maybe my brain is functioning properly today, it is Sunday, lol.
I just switched out my outer primary chaincase cover as it had some scratches on in. I am all ready to put the lubricant in. I ended up going with Amsoil Synthetic Motorcycle Oil 20 - 50. I was considering running a ATF but while I was in the store I decided to go with this as it lists it under uses. I will do some more reading before it is time to change it out, unless I have problems, and maybe go to the Amsoil Synthetic ATF next change, or maybe B & M Trick Shift.
Anyways, my question is, what is considered wet and dry for capacities? I removed the primary cover as I mentioned so I would consider it dry before adding lubricant, but nothing of any amount came out after I drained it so what would wet be?
The service manual calls for 32 oz (0.95L) wet and 40 oz (1.18L) dry. I don't want to put in too much or two little which may affect performance and cause me to make a misguided opinion of the Amsoil and its performance.
Thanks in advance.
