RE: taking out the baffles
I have the V&H Big Shots Staggered on my ride and was considering taking out the Quite Baffels to see how it performed and sounded. I think, but I'm no expert, that removing the baffels will affect backpressure and rejetting the carb or doing another download for EFI will be needed.......maybe?

Set screws hold them in but you have to take the heat shields off to get to them and you also may have to loosen them up from the exhaust ports to get the pipes far enough from the rear bracket to reach them....Personally I think it would adversly effect your performance. They do make a race (louder) baffle for them...Let us know what you do....

RE: taking out the baffles
well i went straight to the horses mouth on this subject, guess i wont try this. here is is the email i got from V/H...................
Sorry Brian
There are NO other baffles available for the Big Radius other than
stock.
Should you remove the stock baffles you will lose the low-end torque
gains,
additionally, your pipes will be very, very loud. It has been noted
that
when the baffles of the big radius have been removed, they are
destroyed and
if completely removed, do not return in an easy manner. Vance & Hines
does
not recommend removing the baffles from the big radius. Listen to
someone
else who has removed theirs. . . then attempted to re-install them.
Lesson
learned. Take care and ride safe.

RE: taking out the baffles
I installed my V&H Longshots without the baffles and then had the "Stage 1 Kit" installed and then Dynoed at my
10K Service and it runs great. If I had to put them back in, it would take all of 5 minutes.
I keep my baffles with me just in case I get hassled. They are wrapped in a t-shirt in my saddle bag...
I have never been stopped though. The dealer said if I were to put them back in, after the "Stage 1 Kit" install,
I would only lose a little on my Top End in performance. I have never installed my baffles to this date.

RE: taking out the baffles
you may want to check out Thunder Monster Baffles. They make a baffle for the V&H Big Radius. There web site is www.bigcitythunder.com

RE: taking out the baffles
The trouble with those pipes is they're curved rather than just straight pipe. I've heard these and I thought they were pretty darn loud as is.. wouldn't be worth it to me to remove the baffles for even louder sound because of the loss of low end power which is typically what I'd expect when removing baffles. I'd keep 'em in. If they were straight pipes, it would be an easier experiment, but removing baffles means removing backflow pressure which would equate to a loss in low end torque which is the true strength of these vtwin engines. Drag pipes rob enough torque as it is in low-mid RPM range, compared to pipes with some kind of crossover such as staggered VH's or 2 into 1's. My 2 cents.
