Default 07 Heritage oil cooler install question

I have the HD oil cooler to install on my 07 Heritage. do I really need to drain the oil to install? I just changed it about 200 miles ago, so I would like to be able to install w/o the oil being drained, or will the oil all drain out when I take off the oil filter? thanks for the help!

Yes oil will come out when you remove the filter.

Just drain your oil in a clean container. It's no big deal. I use a plastic 1 gallon oil container with one side cut open. With only 200 miles on the last oil change. You can reuse the same oil filter too.

VAB,

I just finished installing an oil cooler and was asking the very same question, "Will the entire contents of the oil tank drain out if the oil filter is removed?" Couldn't find an answer and didn't want to make a mess or lose my fresh oil experimenting. Ended up draining the tank and re-using the oil.
