Default Gun lock for helmet?

I read through some older posts and see a lot of people just using the harley locks for their helmet. A few mentions of master locks. Is anyone using gun locks? I was thinking of grabbing one of these to use down on the shifter/floorboard.

I use a gun lock for my 3/4 helmet. I loop it through the metal loops on the helmet strap, and then loop the lock through the aux light bar in front. Works well. I bought a red gun lock, so it stands out that the helmets are locked up.

I've used a bicycle seat cable many times. Not only for my helmet, but for fender bags too.

Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/OnGuard-Akita-...bike+seat+lock

Just did a search for handcuffs on amazon after RIPbiker13 metioned it and found this little gem that would be excellent for larger items and/or jackets:
