Default Stage One Air Cleaner Kits

Am looking at:
Harley Screaming Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner kit, cost: $149.95
K & N Air Cleaner Kit (RK-3909-1): Cost $161.99, on sale)
Which one is best?

Bike is: 2008 Heritage, with screaming eagle slip on mufflers.

Thanks for your input.

I actually bought that one and returned it. I planned on putting one of the No1 skull covers over it. It came with a really crappy back plate (which you would've been able to see once installed without the football cover on). A chrome backplate was another $50. I returned it and got a Ventilator kit for $250. I really wanted a heavy breather elite, but they only fit the larger throttle bodies...

Once you upgrade from that closed stocker, just about any aftermarket free-flow air cleaner will do the same job.
Most are so open they give your engine more air than it can even use.
When buying a new air cleaner, all you're really buying is looks.
They all perform pretty much the same.

I prefer the Ebay used units of pretty much any brand or check out the classified section on the forum. This is not rocket science. I like the seasoned veteran air cleaners, the previously enjoyed, cleaning out my garage finds myself. But, if money is not an issue, you should get the most expensive one for sure

I have the 587 from DK Custom Products with external breather and I really like it. Now I just need to get some new pics.

As others have said, most stage 1 air cleaners will flow more are than your bike can even eat.

However, there is more to it than that. There are only a couple of companys making true performance stage 1 air cleaners anymore.

DK Custom Products
NRHS
Hammer

That is all that I know of right off the top of my head.

The difference is they route the hot dirty oily air out into the atmosphere instead of back into the motor. This is better for performance and for the longevity of your motor.

Here is a link to some of the options that we offer.

Neither, I would look at DK Customs if you feel ok using external breathers. I prefer the chrome Arlen Ness Big Sucker with internal breathers and a quality product.
